Polling underway in America to elect House of Representatives, Senate & 37 Governors

In America, voters have begun casting in the costliest ever Midterm elections which will elect members to the House of Representatives, Senate and 37 Governors. People have been lining in polling stations to cast their votes right across the 50 states. The run up to Election day has witnessed nasty smear campaign with both Republican and Democrats spending over 4 billion dollars to woo voters. The sluggish economy and high rate of unemployment were among the top local issues which were debated in campaign, while international issues barely figured in what analysts described as highly polarized atmosphere, a rarity in American politics. The embattled Democrats continued their campaign till the wee hours of the night to get supporters to go to vote on election day.Our correspondent Sanjay Ghosh covering the elections reports from Las Vegas that opinion polls have forecast that the Republicans could take the House of Representatives , while stating that the democrats may retain their majority in the senate, by a slender margin.Counting will begin soon after voting ends across the country and the results are expected by late this evening.
