In Tajikistan, polling is underway for the country's lower house of Parliament. There are 217 candidates in the race for 63 seats. There are eight parties in the fray but the main contest is between People's Democratic Party of President Emomali Rakhmon and the Islamic Revival Party. The overall number of candidates contesting is low as they have to pay 1600 dollars to register with the Election Commission.
