<span style="color: #222222;">Polling is going on smoothly for the Biennial Elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council from the local authorities constituencies in Nagpur and Akola-Washim-Buldhana today. BJP has fielded former Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule from Nagpur and in the last moment twist, Congress withdrew its candidate Chhotu Bhoir who was fielded against Bawankule, and announced its support to an independent candidate Mangesh Deshmukh. <br />''<br />''Congress party issued a press release in this regard on the eve of the election. Voting is also underway for Akola Buldana Washim constituency where Gopikishan Bajoria of Shiv Sena and Vasant Khandelwal are contesting the election. Candidates on four seats from Kolhapur and Dhule-Nandurbar local bodies seats and two seats in Mumbai have been elected unopposed. BJP withdrew its candidate Amol Mahadik from Kolhapur which paved way for the unopposed election of the Congress nominee and the Minister of State for Home Satej Patil. In Dhule-Nandurbar, Congress withdrew its nominee Gaurav Wani that led to unopposed election of BJP candidate Amrish Patel. Similarly, in Mumbai, the Congress party's Suresh Koparkar withdrew his nomination that led to the victory of Shivsena nominee Sunil Shinde and BJP candidate Rajhans Singh as they remained in the fray for the two seats. Meanwhile, 25 percent voting was registered in Nagpur Constituency till noon where 559 voters are expected to exercise their franchise.</span><br />
