In Uttar Pradesh, polling is going on for the second round of the first phase of civic elections amidst tight security arrangements today. The polling is going on in 17 districts of the state including Meerut, Etawah, Moradabad, Ballia, Varanasi, Deoria and Fatehpur. In this round, more than 88 lakh voters are deciding the fate of 1521 Mayoral candidates and Heads of Nagar Palikas along with 12,985 candidates for the post of Corporators. The polling process is going on peacefully with exceptions of some minor incidents.
