Peaceful polling underway in 117 LS seats and 1 UT .

Peaceful polling is now on in 117 Lok Sabha constituencies in 11 states and Union Territory of Puducherry.

percent polling has been recorded by 11 a.m. Over 18 crore voters will excercise their franchise in the sixth of the nine- phased elections today .

The constituencies going to polls in this phase include all the 39 in Tamil Nadu, 19 in Maharashtra, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Madhya Pradesh, seven each in Bihar and Chhattisgarh, six each in West Bengal and Assam, five in Rajasthan, four in Jharkhand and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry.

Prominent candidates whose fate will be decided today include Union Ministers Salman Khurshid,V Narayana Swamy, Jitendra Singh Deepa Dasmunshi, Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury, Milind Deora, Namonarayan Meena and Tariq Anwar. Besides political stalwarts and celeberities like Sushma Swaraj, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Amar Singh, President Pranab Mukherjee’s son and Congress nominee Abhijit Mukherjee, Dayanidhi Maran, A Raja ,T R Baalu, Vaiko, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Mohd Azharuddin Hema Malini, Priya Dutt , Gurudas Kamath and Medha Patkar are also in the fray today.
