Polling on for Hisar LS & five assembly seats

In Haryana, voting has begun for the Hisar Parliamentary constituency by-election. The polling will end at 5.00 p.m. Over 13 lakh 32 thousand voters including around 6 lakh 2 thousand females will exercise their franchise in the by-election.

For the first time the people could view the polling at Bal Bhawan and Jat College in Hisar live on internet. The video link will be available on Hisar's official website e-hisar.in.

The Hissar seat fell vacant after the death of former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal in June this year.

On the other hand in Bihar, amidst tight security arrangements, polling has begun for the by elections to Darounda Assembly seat. Voting will continue till 5.00 p.m.

AIR Patna correspondent reports that over 2 lakh and twenty six thousand electorates will decide the political fortune of nine candidates who are in the fray. The by election was necessiated following the death of JD(U) MLA Jagmahto Devi.

In Andhra Pradesh, voting is in progress for the by-poll to

Banswada Assembly constituency. The Congress is the lone recognised party to contest against the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

The by-poll was necessitated due to the resignation of TDP MLA Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy who quit the party in March demanding creation of a separate state.

The by-election for the Tiruchirapalli West Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu is also being held today. Polls will be held in 240 booths . Sixteen candidates including DMK’s K N Nehru and AIADMK’s Paramjothi are in the electoral fray.

There are two lakhs eight thousand four hundred and ninety one voters in this constituency.

The seat fell vacant as the sitting MLA and State Environment Minister Mariampichai died in a road accident near Padalur on the May 23.

Simultaneously in Pudducherry, voting is in progress amid tight security arrangements for the Indiranagar Assembly constituency by election. Voting will continue till 5.00 this evening.

Seven candidates are in the fray. Over 29,000 voters will exercise their franchise in the crucial by-poll necessitated by resignation of Chief Minister Mr. Rangaswamy who contested from two seats in the April Assembly election.
