Polling is underway for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections in seven Constituencies spread over four states and all 32 Assembly segments in Sikkim. The Lok Sabha Constituencies are three in Assam, both seats in Goa, the lone seat in Sikkim and the remaining one seat in Tripura. Voting began in all the constituencies at 7 am. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful polling.
In Assam, security forces have seized huge cache of arms and ammunitions at Haflong in Dima Hasao district just before the second phase of polls in the state today for Silchar, Karimganj and Autonomous district seats. Additional DGP, A P Rout said in Guwahati that two militant outfits have called off their indefinite Karbi Anglong district bandh.
Over 29 lakh voters in the State are eligible to exercise their voting rights. In Sikkim, polling is on for the lone lok Sabha and the 32- member Assembly.
Election is being held in Goa for the two Lok Sabha seats, North and South Goa. More than ten lakh voters will decide the fate of 19 candidates. The main fight is between BJP and the Congress in both the seats.
