Polling to elect 170 members of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee SGPC is going on peacefully in Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory of Chandigarh under tight security. Twenty-five to 30 percent polling is reported in rural areas and about 20 percent in urban areas. Reports reaching from border areas of Punjab say a large number of voters are seen in the queues waiting for their turn. Polling which began at 8AM will continue till four in the afternoon. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Miniister Sukhbir Singh Badal and other members of their family cast their votes at a polling booth in their native village Badal in Mukatsar district. Among the 170 members 157 will be from Punjab 11 from Haryana and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Counting will start immediately after the pooling but results will be declared on 22th of this month.
