Polling for Rajya Sabha elections in UP almost certain as 11 candidates in fray for 10 seats

<span style="color: #222222;">Polling for Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh is now almost certain since 11 candidates are in fray for the biennial Election for the 10 Rajya Sabha seats. Today was the last day of filing nominations and if no nomination becomes invalid then 11 candidates will fight for the 10 seats on 9th November. AIR correspondent reports that, today 9 candidates filed their nominations including one independent candidate.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">All 8 candidates of BJP filed their nominations today. Party retained its three sitting Rajya Sabha members from UP – Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, former Ballia MP Neeraj Shekhar, son of late Prime Minister Chandrashekhar and party general secretary Arun Singh – whose term would expire on November 25.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Other candidates from the BJP included former UP minister Haridwar Dubey, three-time MLA Seema Dwivedi, former director general of police Brij Lal, former Auraiya district chief of BJP Geeta Shakya and BL Verma, the current UP BJP vice president. From Samajwadi Party the lone candidate is Prof Ramgopal Yadav. Prakash Bajaj has also filed nomination as an Independent candidate and claims support by the Samajwadi Party. BSP candidate Ramji Gautam and SP candidate Ram Gopal Yadav have already filed their nomination.</span><br />''  <br />
