In Rajasthan, polling is in progress for 46 civic bodies . About 15 % votes have been polled in first 3 hours. This is for the first time in the state that instead of ward members, people would directly elect heads of these civic bodies. 270 Candidates are in the fray for these posts while 6179 candidates are contesting for posts of 1612 ward members. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for free & fair polling. <br/>AIR correspondent Anurag Vajpayee reports from Jaipur that polling is in process .in the starting speed of polling was slow but now it is increasing. Today 56 Lakh 59 thousand 790 Voters including 26 lakh 48 thousand 175 women would close fate of 6449 candidates in EVM"S. 6002 booth s have been established for polling.At every polling booth there are 2 EVMs. Voters are cast ing their votes separately for ward members in one machine & for head of civic body in another. Today voters will chose mayors of jaipur, jodhpur, Bikaner & Udaipur Municipal corporations & Chairman's of 11 Municipal councils & 31 Municipalities. Mainly the contest is between Ruling congress & main opposition party BJP but BSP, RJD & CPIM are also in contest at many place.
