Voting is underway for four Lok Sabha and eight Assembly Constituencies, spread across seven states today. In Assam, 13 percent polling has been reported till last report came in for the Lakhimpur Loksabha and Baithalangso assembly seat. Voting will be continued till 4 p.m.<br/><br/>CEO Mukesh Sahu said that no untoward incident has been reported as proper security arrangement has been made. He said that one EVM has been replaced. People have seen queuing up at several voting stations much before the commencement of polling. Five candidates are in the fray for the Lakhimpur seat where polling was required after Sarbanand Sonowal who represented the seat became Chief Minister of Assam.<br/><br/>In Madhya Pradesh, voting is continuing in peaceful manner at Shahdol Lok Sabha and Nepanagar assembly seats. Elaborate security arrangements have been made. More than 18 lakh voters are voting in the by-election for Shahdol Lok Sabha and Nepanagar assembly seats today to decide the fate of 21 candidates.The voting will be till 5 p.m. In West Bengal, polling is underway in Coochbehar and Tamluk Parliamentary seats in West Bengal.<br/><br/>In Tripura, casting of votes for by-polls to two assembly constituencies, namely Khowai and Barjala, began at 7 this morning. <br/><br/>Till 3 PM, 75 per cent votes were cast in Barjala constituency whereas in Khowai constituency 81 per cent voting was recorded. <br/><br/>This information was given by Debasish Modak, Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura.<br/><br/>In Khowai, out of 52 polling stations, 10 numbers have been marked as sensitive whereas in Barjala, 12 stations were declared as sensitive out of total of 48 polling stations. Adequate security arrangements have been made in all polling stations. For each constituency, there are around 39,000 voters. CPI (M), TMC, Congress, BJP parties are in the fray in both seats. <br/><br/>By-poll to Barjala constituency was necessitated when the sitting Congress MLA Jitendra Sarkar joined CPI (M) after resigning from the legislator. By-poll to Khowai constituency was due to the death of CPI (M) MLA Samir Deb Sarkar. The counting of the votes will be held on November 22.<br/><br/>In Tamil Nadu, brisk polling has been reported in three Assembly constituencies. 52 per cent votes have been polled in Tiruparakundram, 50 percent in Thanjavur and 62 percent in Aravakurichi.<br/><br/>In Puducherry, Voting percentage was reported as 60 percent till 1:30 p.m.<br/><br/>The Assembly seats, where by-polls is underway are in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The counting of votes will be taken up on Tuesday.
