Polling for 4th phase elections in Jharkhand underway

Fourteen per cent polling has been recorded till eleven this morning in the fourth phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand. Voting had begun on a peaceful note in all the 14 constituencies at seven this morning. In this phase, Over 24 and a half lakh voters will decide the electoral fortune of 233 candidates in the fray from 14 seats. The Maoists, having a huge presence in all the constituencies, have given a call to boycott the polls. Our correspondent reports that around 40,000 jawans and officers have been deployed to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling. Air surveillance in the poll-bound areas is on and adequate reserve strike force is in place to face any eventuality.Meanwhile, two BSF jawans were injured in Gumla district on Friday when a truck carrying them overturned.
