The leaders of political parties leave no stone unturned till the last hour in campaigning to woo the voters. The fate of ninety two candidates will be decided on March 5 by more than eight lakh thirty eight voters in twenty two assembly constituencies of ten districts. Police and para military forces have intensified patrolling and vigil across the borders to maintain law and order considering the upcoming polling in the State. The ten districts which polling will be done in the second phase includes Thoubal, Jiribam, Kakching, Tamenglong, Noney, Ukhrul, Kamjong, Senapati, Chandel and Tengnoupal. In the last general elections, Congress party got half of the seats from these twenty two assembly constituencies when BJP got only three seats. Thoubal and Kakching districts are regarded as Congress bastions and this time BJP, NPP and JD (U) parties are challenging Congress party in these two districts. Naga People's Front (NPF) have strongholds over Naga dominated hill districts of the State and they are trying their luck in ten assembly constituencies. BJP and NPF candidates will have face to face contest in Chandel assembly constituency while Congress veteran leader Gaikhangam is fighting with BJP candidate in Nungba assembly constituency. So far, major pre-polls violent incidents have been reported from twenty two assembly constituencies and election officials have taken up all necessary arrangements to conduct the polling on March 5. </span>
