Polling begins in MP

In Madhya Pradesh, polling for the first round of local bodies’ election has begun. AIR Bhopal correspondent reports that elaborate security arrangement have been made for free and fair elections in 122 local bodies.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent said, Polling is being taking place in 12 Municipal Corporations including Bhopal,Indore ,Jabalpur and Gwalior,41 Municipal Councils and 69 Nagar Panchyats for the election of Mayors, Chairmen and about 2500 Councilors.<br/><br/>More than sixty seven lac voters will exercise their franchise in eight thousand six hundred fifty two polling booths. About three thousand booths have been identified as sensitive. For the first time in the state 50 percent seats of the local bodies have been reserved for the women candidates. All the major political parties including congress, BJP and BSP have fielded their candidates in most of the places.<br/><br/> <br/>
