In Manipur, polling personnel have started moving out to their respective polling stations from today. Air correspondent reports thatthough Manipur is a small state, in view of the difficult mountain terrains and bad roads, the polling officials have to leave their headquarters much ahead of the polling date.Among the poll booths, those in Bangai range in Churachandpur district are the remotest and most difficult.Helicopters will be pressed into service to ferry poll personnel and materials in remote and inaccessible polling stations. Altogether 2,357 polling stations will be set up and these will be manned by 11,785 polling personnel.Meanwhile, strict vigil is being maintained by security forces across the state in view of the fresh militant threat particularly to the Congress workers. Three Congress workers were seriously injured when militants attacked a local election office belonging to the Congress party at Noney under Nungba assembly constituency in Tamenglong district early this morning.
