The electioneering campaign has picked up momentum in the tiny coastal state of Goa which is going to State Assembly polls on March 3. The election rallies of the prominent leaders of various political parties would be held in the later part of the nearly two-week long campaign.AIR correspondent reports, during the first half of the Goa Assembly election campaign, the candidates belonging to various political parties as well as the independents stressed on approaching the voters personally through door to door campaign and corner meetings.The major political parties including the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party have revealed the agenda through their election manifestoes and details of their plans to bring about the all-round development of the state. The main plank of the electioneering this time is political stability and growth with special emphasis on legal mining, tourism and infrastructure development.The main tussle this time would be between the ruling Congress and Nationalist Congress Party alliance and the Bharatiya Janata Party and Maharshtravadi Gomantak Party combine. The MGP has sided with the BJP on the verge of elections after getting out of the Congress-led alliance.The candidates are trying to impress upon especially the women and young voters as the electorate comprises of high percentage of these components. The female voters outnumber the males and the young voters constitute around twenty three per cent of the total electorate who are belonging to the age group of below thirty years.
