In Kerala, campaigning has further intensified in the state, with candidates vigorously touring the constituencies in an attempt to woo the voters. Several candidates have completed a couple of rounds in their constituencies. They are taking special efforts to reach out to people staying in remote areas. At several places issues like lack of adequate drinking water, roads and other infrastructure facilities are brought to the fore in the campaign. The LDF is focussing on the developmental initiatives and the various social welfare measures taken by the state government. The UDF on the other hand is criticizing the government's shortcomings, particularly its failure to utilize the funds allocated to it by the union government for various developmental schemes. Union Minister Mr A K Antony addressed a few election campaign meetings at Pudukkad, Ollur and Chalakkudi in Thrissur district on Tuesday. Criticising the LDF rule in Kerala, Mr Antony said the UDF, if voted to power will give priority to improve the law and order situation and will concentrate on the development of the state. He told media persons that the reported talks CPM had with Jamaat-i-Islami leadership is not surprising as the party had resorted to similar steps earlier also. Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be arriving in Kochi tonight to participate in the election campaign meetings of the UDF. Ms Gandhi will address a public meeting at Hairpad and Thrissur Wednesday morning and later at Kozhikode.
