In Assam, poll campaigning is gaining momentum in 64 constituencies where the second and concluding phase of elections will be held on 11th of theis month. While addressing election meetings and rallies, leaders of various political parties including the Congress, BJP, Asom Gana Parishad and the All India United Democratic Front (IIUDF) are making allegations and counter-allegations to garner support of voters. The banned ULFA has withdrawn the bandh call today in view of the upcoming Rongali Bihu celebrations in the State. In second phase of elections in the State, 41 candidates out of 496 are facing criminal cases. AIR Correspondent reports that, candidates with criminal back grounds are among those fielded by all major political parties. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the party will not hesitate to take support of IIUDF to form a new government in the State. IIUDF has already announced not to support the BJP to form a government in the State.
