In Jammu and Kashmir, the poll campaign for the second phase of Assembly elections for 18 seats spread over Kupwara, Kulgam, Poonch, Udhampur and Reasi districts will come to an end Sunday evening.
The polling for this phase will take place on the 2nd of December in which the political fate of 175 candidates will be decided.
According to AIR Srinagar Correspondent strict security measures have been taken with deployment of additional police and central para military forces to ensure peaceful and incident free polling in the second phase.
Meanwhile, on the last day of withdrawal of the nominations for 4th phase of Assembly Elections in the State,182 candidates remained in fray in 18 Assembly Constituencies of the districts of Srinagar, Anantnag , Shopian and Samba for which polling is scheduled on 14th December 2014.
Of the 182 candidates left in the fray, 94 are for the 8 assembly constituencies of Srinagar district, 46 for the six assembly segments of Anantnag district, 20 for the two assembly constituencies of Shopian district in Kashmir Valley.
A total of 22 candidates are left in the fray for two assembly segments of Samba district in Jammu division.
Election fever is at its peak in all the 18 constituencies which are going to polls in the 2nd phase on December 2.
Barring Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) all the parties National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Congress and Awami Mutahida Mahaz (AMM) are talking about the Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
But , these parties hardly devote any time for highlighting daily-to-day problems of the people of the respective areas.
Top leadership of all the main political parties addressed election meetings and organised road shows to woo voters in favour of their candidates.
On the last day of the campaigning for the 2nd phase, top rung leaders of almost all the political parties are holding series of rallies and road shows to woo the voters.
A total of 15,35,087 electorate will exercise their franchise in the 2nd phase for whom 2,181 polling stations have been set up.
In Jharkhand, campaign for the second phase of Assembly election will end at 3 pm today for 18 seats , while for two seats- Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West, it will end at 5PM
223 candidates are in fray for 20 Assembly seats of this phase.
Polling will take take place on 2nd December. Election Commission has made adequate preparation for peaceful polling and it will deploy 40 thousands Central and state police force, along with four helicopters for aerial surveillance.
AIR correspondent reports, on 2nd December, 4.43 lakhs voters in 20 Assembly seats of Kolhan area of Jharkhand, will significantly influence the political future of state.
Voting that would use the services of 25 thousands four hundreds poll officials , 20 general observers, 10 search observers, 512 micro observers for 5048 EVM machines in 5011 polling booths, will seal the fate of many popular names of Jharkhand politics, which include BJP leaders Arjun Munda, Saryu Rai, Raghuwar Das, Congress’s Geetashree Oraon, and controversial candidates of micro parties like Madhu Koda and Enos Ekka.
