Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti today said that politics is playing a bad role in water related issues in the country. Addressing the 4th edition of Jal Manthan in New Delhi, Ms Bharti said, national interest should come first and the issues should be resolved with discussion. <br/><br/>She said, 99 projects of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana going on smoothly and Ministry is working with commitment to complete it within time. Speaking on river interlinking, the Minister called for removal of misconceptions about it. She said, Ken-Betwa, Daman Ganga-Pinjal and Par-Tapi-Narmada link and other projects will solve water scarcity and irrigation problems. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Water Resources Dr Amarjit Singh said, the Ministry is planning to bring Dam Safety Bill and legislation on Inter State River Water Dispute. He said, the Ministry is working with convergence with Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. He said, Jal Manthan will focus on Prime Minister's call of Har Khet ko Pani, Per Drop More Crop and Doubling Farmer's Income by 2022. <br/><br/>The two day seminar are being attended by Union Ministers of related ministries and departments, irrigation and water resources ministers of some states and union territories, eminent experts, representatives of NGOs and senior officers. <br/><br/>On the first day, consultations and discussions are going on on Pradhan Mantri Krishi Seenchai Yojana and its implementation and the review of progress made by states under accelerated irrigation benefit programme and command area development. The discussions on the second day tomorrow will focus on Inter-linking of rivers and its implementation.
