Uncertainty over the fate of the BJP government in Karnataka grew on Sunday with the Governor H R Bhardwaj asking the Speaker not to disqualify any MLA before trust vote on Monday. AIR Correspondent reports that Mr. Bhardwaj directed Speaker K G Bopaiah to maintain status quo on the House strength as on October 6, before the rebels withdrew support reducing the Government to a minority. Meanwhile, 11 BJP rebel legislators continue to remain defiant and are rallying behind JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, who is spearheading the campaign to dislodge the government. In a related development, the BJP accused the Governor of being a willing partner in the opposition move to destabilise its Government and charged him with acting at the behest of the Congress. In the 224-member house, BJP has 117 members, followed by Congress 73, JDS 28 and Independents six. A mark of 113 is required to prove majority in the house.
