Dr. Abdullah’s demand for removal of election commission chief and Afghan President’s refusal to do so have given rise to another political impasse in the country. <br/> <br/>Mr. Hamid Karzai argued that these high-ranking officials have not done any unlawful act and there is no logic behind their removal. <br/> <br/>Dr. Abdullah contended that free and fair elections is not possible without his conditions being met which he termed as minimum. <br/> <br/>He has set a deadline by end of this month failing which there are rumors that he may boycott the elections. <br/> <br/>Focus is again on western nations on their stance which will be crucial as they had pressurized Mr. Karzai to accept runoff. Meanwhile, election commission chief has denied a report in US media that he predicted of Mr. Karzai’s victory terming the report as fabricated.<br/>
