The DMK has decided to pull out of the UPA government at the centre and give only issue based support. The decision came after the core committee meeting of the DMK in Chennai last evening following the stalemate over the seat sharing between the Congress and the DMK in Assembly polls. Party Chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi blamed the Congress of raising new types of issues over seat sharing. The DMK is ready to offer 60 seats in the Assembly polls to the Congress but the party is insisting that it should be given 63 seats of their choice. The Congress had contested 48 seats in the last Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Senior DMK leader T.R.Balu however indicated that his party could review its decision if the Congress relents over the seat sharing issue. He said, all the six Union Ministers of DMK will hand over their resignation after a meeting with Dr. Manmohan Singh and there is no move to fax their resignation. Mr. Balu said, the decision to withdraw from the UPA government has nothing to do with the 2G Spectrum scam issue. Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi has said the DMK's decision has come in the middle of negotiations between the two parties over the seat sharing issue and could muddy the waters. Another party spokesman Janardhan Dwivedi said, the Congress is yet to get any official confirmation from the DMK and the party will take a decision only after it receives the official communication.
