The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution asking the Centre to conduct a thorough and time-bound probe into the charges levelled by former Army Chief VK Singh about payoffs to politicians in the state. The resolution was adopted after a three and a half hour debate on the allegations made by Gen Singh recently.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah proposed the one-line resolution which was unanimously adopted by the House. He said such an enquiry is essential to restore confidence of the people in the democratic process in the state and also in the important institution of the Army.
