Political parties, religious organisations and people at large have welcomed the verdict. Welcoming the judgment, Congress said that everyone should have faith in the judiciary of the country. Party General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said, if any person, party or organisation has any reservation about it, the way to Supreme Court is open. He said, the judgement should not be seen as a victory or defeat of anyone.Senior BJP leader LK Advani said the party believes that the Ayodhya verdict opens a new chapter for national integration and a new era on inter-community relations. He claimed that judgement is a significant step towards building of a grand temple. Mr. Advani was talking to media persons after a meeting of the top brass of the party in New Delhi last evening.Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi expressed the hope that that the judgement will act as catalytic agent for the unity of the country. The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said the verdict should not be seen as anybody's victory or defeat. He appealed for restraint.While appealing for peace, CPI leader Atul Anjan said the issue should be resolved through legal recourse if anyone has any grievance.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said that the entire responsibility of the implementation of High Court order in Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue lies with the Centre. She said that State government has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on implementation of the High Court order. She also called on every one to maintain peace and harmony.Welcoming the decision, Anjuman Committee of Ajmer Dargah Secretary, Mehmood Al Hasan said that the decision is historic and they will respect it. The Prime Minister has made an appeal to all sections of people to maintain peace and calm and show respect for all religions and religious beliefs in the highest tradition of Indian culture. In a statement after a high-level meeting held at his residence, Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed the hope that the response of the people to the judgement will be respectful, dignified and do the country proud. He said that the government on its part is fully committed to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace, order and harmony.The meeting was attended by Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Law Minister Veerappa Moily among others. In Uttar Pradesh, the security personnel have been directed to remain on alert in view of the Friday prayer at various Mosques. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that no untoward incident has been reported from any part of the state after the Allahabad High Court ruling. Security has been beefed up in the sensitive districts of Bahraich, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Kanpur, Agra, Varanasi and Allahabad. District authorities have been asked to ensure that there is no celebration or protest by any community over the verdict. The ban on firing, fireworks, organization of meetings and rallies will continue in the state. Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Brij Lal said, there will be no lowering of guard and extra vigil is being maintained.Residents of Ayodhya and Faizabad heaved a sigh of relief after the High Court verdict which ended days of uncertainty. The court's ruling also brought cheers to local businessmen, who had been suffering due to the decline in the number of visitors to the temple town.Meanwhile, security has been beefed up further in Ayodhya after the verdict. No vehicle is allowed entry into the temple town without extensive checking as patrolling has picked up.In Gujarat, the people of all section of society have welcomed the verdict on Ayodhya Ram Janma Bhoomi disputed land in the bordering district of Kutch. Our Bhuj correspondent reports that Muslim community and leaders of other communities have called upon the people to accept the verdict of the court.
