The political parties of Jammu and Kashmir today urged the Centre to take forward the dialogue process to address the aspirations of the people. While the National Conference renewed its demand on autonomy to the State, the Congress party said that Kashmir needs an unconventional solution. The People's Democratic Party urged the delegation to interact with common man and visit hospitals to meet the victims of violence. Earlier, an All Party Delegation headed by Home Minister P.Chidambaram, which arrived in Srinagar on Monday morning began consultations with political groups and representatives from civil society, trade unions and student bodies. Speaking to reporters after the meeting with the delegation, the senior National Conference leader and Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather said that the recent statements by the Centre have given much hope. In response to a question on alleged human rights violations by the security forces, he said, anybody found guilty will be given stringent punishment. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President and former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz said that his party will support any consensus that leads to the solution of the crisis. He, however, elaborated that the unity of the State has to be kept in mind while seeking any solution. The People's Democratic Party which complained that it was given only 15 minutes to discuss the issue. The party leader Nizamudin Bhatt said, they suggested the delegation should visit the hospitals and meet the victims of violence. The party has been pleading for unconditional dialogue and revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act. The party delegation in the talks was led by Mr. Dilawar Mir as the party chief Mehbooba Mufti abstained. JKLF led by Yasin Mallik and Hurriyat Conference faction headed by Moulvi Umar Farooq has decided to send a joint memorandum to the delegation. Leaders of the prominent political parties including Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley of the BJP, Basudev Acharia and Sitaram Yechury of the CPI(M), Gurudas Das Gupta of the CPI and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and LJP leader Ramvilas Paswan are part of the delegation. The Central Government has sent invitations to all political parties and groups including two factions of Hurriyat and JKLF.
