Political parties and other stake holders in Jammu and Kashmir today urged the Centre to reach out to the alienated sections of people and intensify the dialogue process to restore peace and order in the State.An All Party Delegation of members of Parliament, began their two day peace mission this morning to hold discussions with all stake holders in Jammu and Kashmir. In its interaction with the delegation, the National Conference renewed its demand for autonomy, the PDP called for out of box solution and the Congress stressed on an unconventional approach to restore peace and address the aspirations of people. Speaking to reporters after their meeting with the delegation senior national conference leader and Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rathar said that the party made it clear that over the years, the autonomy of this state was eroded which the party believes is the reason for the discontent. He welcomed the statements made by the Home Minister ahead of the meeting saying it has given some hope. The PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhatt told reporters after the meeting that the present crisis is due to long pending Kashmir issue and immediate mishandling of the situation by the Omar Abdullah government. He said that party renewed its demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and unconditional dialogue with all sections of people. The party delegation was led by Dilawar Mir and party chief Ms. Mehbooba Mufti abstained. The State Congress President and former Union Minister Safuddin Soz said that the party urged the delegation to restore civil liberties of the people in full measure and with dignity. Asserting dialogue is only way forward, he said Congress will vigorously facilitate such a process. The delegation also met student groups, traders, fruit growers and trade union leaders to seek their views. Moderate Hurriyat Conference Chief Mir Waiz Umar Farooq and JKLF leader Yasin Malik called for a result oriented dialogue to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue. They sent a joint memorandum to the delegation. Some members of the delegation met Mir Wiaiz Umar Farooq at his residence to seek his support for peace mission. Talking to Mr.Gurudas Das Gupta of CPI, Mir Wiaiz alleged that the credibility of institution of dialogue has been eroded and suggested that the delegation memebrs should meet the commonmen to know his problems. Mr.Dasgupta assured him that he will take up the issues of concern with the government and in Parliament. Several other members of the delegation including Mr.Sitaram Yechury also met the hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his residence. The delegation which reached Srinagar this morning, was received at the airport by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his cabinet colleagues. It will be visiting Jammu tomorrow to exchange views with groups and parties there before returning to Delhi. Leaders of the prominent political parties who are part of the delegation include Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley of the BJP, Basudev Acharia and Sitaram Yechury of the CPI(M), Gurudas Das Gupta of the CPI and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and LJP leader Ramvilas Paswan. The Central Government had sent invitations to all political parties and groups including two factions of Hurriyat and JKLF.
