In Assam, with the completion of nomination withdrawal process for the first of Assembly elections, all the political parties intensified their campaigns. The first phase of elections scheduled to be held on 4th of next month in 62 constituencies. Most of the political parties have already submitted the list of STAR campaigners to the State Election Department for the first phase of elections. The ruling Congress party sources in Guwahati said that it prepared the list of campaigners for the state Assembly elections. The list includes Prime Minster Dr.Manmohan Singh,Congress President Sonia Gandhi along with other senior Central and state leaders of the party. The main opposition Asom Gana Parishad invited the Chief Ministers of Sikkim,Nagaland and former Chief Minster of Mizoram Zoramthanga. The BJP’s list has featured Party President Nitin Gadkari, senior leaders L.K Advani among others. Chief Minister of Tripur Manik Sarkar and other senior leaders of the Left front will also campaigned in Assam.NCP and AIUDF also submitted their list of star campaigners. All the parties likely to intensify their campaigns with these campaigners soon. It may be recalled that altogether 482 candidates remained in the fray for the first phase of elections. Meanwhile, the submission of nomination papers is likely to pick up for the second phase of polls scheduled to be held on 11th of next month. So far, nine candidates have filed their nominations. The last day of submission of nomination papers for this phase has been fixed on 25th of this month.
