Political parties busy to finalise election strategies for assembly polls

Political parties are busy in giving final touches to their election strategies for the assembly polls in Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh and Haryana.While the BJP Shiv Sena combine has finalized its seat sharing arrangement in Maharashtra, discussions between Congress and NCP are almost complete in the State. The BJP and Shiv Sena have already released their first list of candidates for Maharashtra and the Congress and the NCP are likely to release their lists on Tuesday. The leaders of NCP and Congress held fresh round of talks today to seal the seat sharing agreement. The Central Election Committee of Congress is believed to have cleared the names of around hundred fifty candidates. According to party sources Maharshtra Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chauhan and some of his cabinet colleagues figure in the list. The party is likely contests 174 seats and NCP 114 in the 288 member house. The Shiv Sena released the list of 126 candidates which include 60 new faces. Three former Ministers also figure in the list. BJP has released its first list of 66 candidates. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has announced its first list of candidates. In Arunachal Pradesh, the ruling Congress has so far announced the list for 59 seats in the 60 member house. NCP has fielded 30, BJP 24 and Trinamul Congress 29 candidates. The Central Election Committee of the Congress is meeting in New Delhi tomorrow to finalise the list of the candidates for the Haryana assembly poll. Congress and BJP are going alone in the polls in the state and the India National Lok Dal is having alliance with Akali Dal Badal. Haryana Janhit Party is also in the fray. Meanwhile, former State BJP President Dr Kamla Verma has quit the party in protest against the allotment of party tickets. Our Correspondent reports that most of the parties have decided to highlight issues of common man including price rise, impact of drought and law and order apart from the threat from terrorists to peace and security. The Congress party has decided to highlight the achievements of the government at the centre and state apart from its policies to ensure inclusive growth. Political parties are busy in drafting the schedule of senior party leaders for campaigning, as Friday is the last day for filing of nominations.
