Political parties attacked BSP for garland made of currency notes

Political parties today attacked the BSP for display of huge currency notes in form of a garland. The garland, estimated to be worth over 2 crore rupees was presented to BSP leader Mayawati during celebrations marking 25 years of the party in Lucknow yesterday.<br/><br/>Reacting sharply to the development, the BJP has called for an intervention from the centre. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, party leader Rajnath Singh urged the centre to take cognizance of the incident and take appropriate action.<br/><br/>Senior Congress Leader Jagadmbika Pal accused the BSP government for spending government money on its party activities. He demanded the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh must demit office in the wake of disrepute brought to it.<br/><br/>Strongly criticizing the display of garland of currency notes, he called it an insult to the national currency.<br/><br/>The BSP member Vir Bahadur Singh however defended his party calling it a gift from the followers.
