Political parleys on ahead of Jan 5 meet on Telangana

In Andhra Pradesh, hectic political parleys are underway in view of the all party meeting convened by the Centre on 5th of this month over statehood for Telangana. Union Home Minister Chidambaram has convened a meeting of all recognised political parties of the state in Delhi to hold consultations among the stakeholders over separate Telanganan state. AIR vcorrespondent reports that leaders of all major parties including the Congress and Telugu Desam who divided on regional lines are holding separate meetings over the proposed all party meeting on Telangana issue. Congress party high command has already indicated the names of the leaders who will take part in the meeting. On the other hand, the TDP while discussing the pros and cons of the meeting is yet to pick up the representatives who could articulate the party’s stand clearly in the meeting. In this connection, the Telangana leaders of both Congress and Telugu are holding separate meetings at present to chalk out their strategies. The PRP has already announced that it will clearly put forth the party view in favour of Unified State. The CPM has also expressed a similar view. On the other hand, the CPI and TRS are still holding internal talks to finalise the names of the leaders to take part in the meeting. Meanwhile, the MIM is yet to announce its stand on statehood for Telangana state. Meanwhile, Information Technology Minister K Venkat Reddy who has been served show cause notice for criticising the Chief Minister has said he would give a reply to the notice in 24 hours. Denying that he had levelled personal allegations against the Chief Minister, Venkat Reddy said that he had merely conveyed public opinion.
