In Bihar, major political parties and their leaders suspended large scale campaigning in view of the high festivity of folk festival Chhat Puja. No party has scheduled election rally today for campaigning for party candidates. But candidates are not leaving any stone unturned to reach to their voters.AIR correspondent reports in Naxal hit Kaimur district a total of 71 candidates including 8 women are in fray for 4 constituencies. From Chainpur and Bhabhua segments, 22 each candidates are in contest. Sons of two MPs are in contest as nominees from their father’s opposition parties. Political prestige of a state government minister and three sitting MLAs is on stake in this district. Congress, Both RJD-LJP and JDU-BJP alliance, SP, BSP, JDS, NCP nominees are in all 4 segments while CPI(ML) and CPI have also put their nominees.From Naxal hit Chainpur constituency, RJD nominee Dharmendra Kumar Singh is son of a ruling JD(U) MP. BJP has renominated its sitting MLA Brij Kishore Vind while another sitting MLA Ramchandra Singh Yadav is SP candidate. He had won last election from Bhabhua as BSP nominee. Bhabhua is also Naxal hit segment and BSP has fielded a woman candidate Vijay Luxmi Devi. She is daughter-in-law of a former MLA while former MLA Vijay Shankar Pandey is Congress candidate and Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh is LJP nominee. In Ramgarh segment, BJP candidate Sudhakar Singh is son of a RJD MP. BSP has nominated former MLA Dr. Prabhawati Devi while a rebel BJP leader Malti Gupta is independent candidate. RJD has fielded its sitting MLA Ambika Singh. Parshuram Tiwari is Congress nominee. In Mohania Reserved constituency, Tetari Devi is lone woman candidate as CPI(ML) candidate. State government minister Chhedi Paswan is also trying his luck form this segment. Niranjan Ram is RJD candidate while Kanhaiya Ram is Congress candidate. About 8 lakhs 40 thousand voters would decide the political fate of contestants on 20th of this month. In Bihar, Chhath Puja is being celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety. AIR correspondent reports that the whole atmosphere is reverberating with devotional folk songs.
