Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that political issues prevailing in the country for over 30 -40 years based on the differences in religion and nationality cannot be resolved overnight. <br/><br/> Addressing a function at at Bishop College in Colombo last evening, Mr. Wickremesinghe said the majority of the people in the country want to create a unitary Sri Lanka where everyone can live in harmony, but it is not easy to uproot racist and extremist politics in a shorter period of time. <br/><br/>He said the end of war did not bring the peace as expected and could not create a Sri Lankan identity.<br/><br/>The prime minister commended the immense service rendered by Opposition and Tamil national Alliance leader R. Sampanthan towards the national harmony and his efforts to resolve the ethnic issues through discussions. <br/><br/>His comments came as Mr. Sampanthan led a scatching attack on the Sri Lankan government in Parliament yesterday for not doing enough to meet Tamil aspirations.
