Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today said political empowerment is the most critical aspect of women empowerment and all hurdles that come in the way of socio-economic empowerment of women should be removed. <br/><br/>He was addressing a gathering of FICCI Ladies Organisation on Building New India in Hyderabad this evening. <br/><br/>The Vice President said more and more women should hold key responsibilities in various bodies from Panchayats to Parliament in the years to come. <br/><br/>He called upon people to work individual capacity fight against social evils like gender discrimination, atrocities on women, infanticide, malnutrition, corruption and illiteracy. <br/><br/>The Vice President also called upon all citizens to work with renewed passion and commitment towards building new India. <br/><br/>He said the country is on the threshold of transformation into a major economic power.
