In Kerala, political activity is fast gaining momentum for the upcoming assembly elections on 13th of next month. With hardly forty days left for the single phase election both the CPIM led Left Democratic Front and Congress led UDF are holding hectic parleys to fine tune election strategies and seat sharing arrangements. While Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee meeting is taking place at Kozhikode today, their arch rivals CPIM will be discussing state election strategies at the two day central committee and Politburo meeting presently underway in Delhi. BJP, yet to open their account in the state assembly is also getting geared to put up a tough fight. Kerala has an electorate of 2,29,40, 408. Notification will be issued on 19th of this month to the 140 member state assembly. Of this fourteen seats are reserved for schedule castes and two for schedule tribes. As this time non resident Indians are eligible to vote, large number of Keralites working abroad especially in gulf countries can influence the voting pattern considerably.
