The power sharing talks between Congress and NCP still has to reach finality in Maharashtra, with both the parties trying to have portfolios of their choice. The senior leadership of both Congress and NCP tried to break the deadlock on portfolio division in Mumbai on Sunday, but none of the options were satisfactory to the allies, delaying the swearing-in ceremony further. According to political analysts, while NCP is willing to accept 20 ministerial berths to 22 of Congress, it wants to continue having control over key ministries like home, finance and energy. In exchange, the Congress wants the rural development and tribal welfare ministries, strengthening its pro-common man stand. With no party ready to give in, the bargaining continues.
