Polio Immunisation drive begins in UP

In Uttar Pradesh nearly one week long pulse polio Immunisation drive began today in all 71 districts of the state under National Immunisation Day.<br/> Joint Director Health of the state Dr. PK Bhagwat told our Lucknow Correspondent this evening that more than three crore 80 lakhs children from zero to five years of age will be administered polio drops during the drive. He said that more than one lakh Immunisation booths were set up across the state to administer the polio drops to the children on the first day of week long drive. He said Trivalent oral vaccine (TOPV1) is being administered to the children as drive is targeted against P3 virus of Polio. About seventy five hundred mobile and transit teams have been deployed at railway and bus stations for Immunisation to the children in journey and for the children living at the scattered places.
