Polio cases come down drastically to 39 this year

The number of Polio Cases in the country has come down drastically to 39 this year compared to 800 last year. Revealing this at a Health summit in New Delhi today, Health and Family welfare Minister, Gulam Nabi Azad attributed the decline to the new bivalent Vaccine launched in January this year. The new vaccine targets both type 1 and type 2 polio viruses. Mr Azad added that the vaccine can help in completely eradicating polio from the country. The Minister also invited the private sector to participate and invest in establishing diagnostic facilities, super speciality care centres, hospitals and medical colleges at the land granted by the railways to the Health Ministry.
