The personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and State Armed Police (SAP), who are deployed in election duties, will now be paid honorarium. The Election Commission in its order said, it was a long felt demand of the CAPF and SAP personnel. The rates of honorarium will be 2500 rupees for officers, 2000 rupees for subordinate officers and 1500 rupees for other ranks for any election duty which is of 15 days or less. The Commission said, the rates of honorarium will come into force prospectively. It said, the CAPFs and SAPs play a crucial role in the creation of a peaceful and conducive environment for elections.
