Police operations on in Guwahati to capture GNLA ultras

In Assam, joint operations by police and Central Forces are on in the bordering areas in and around Guwahati city to capture outlawed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) ultras.The operation has been intensified following reports that the several top cadres of the banned outfit are taking shelter in Assam-Meghalaya boundary around the Guwahati city. Police suspect the militants might have migrated to the Guwahati area following large-scale operation launched against the militant group in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills region. The security forces comprising Assam police, Meghalaya police and CRPF personnel arrested four GNLA cadres from Garchuk area of the Guwahati city on Saturday. One AK-56 rifle, one HK rifle, live ammunition and incriminating documents were recovered from the militants’ possession
