Police in Philippines turned down military offer to deal with armed siege of a bus

The military in the Philippines says, the police turned down its offer of specialist squads to deal with the armed siege of a bus on Monday in which eight tourists from Hong Kong were killed. A military spokesman said, the armed squad was highly equipped, had been trained in the United States and had past experience to deal with hostage situations. The police operation has been widely criticised and caused anger in Hong Kong.
