In Lakshadweep, police fired in the air on Monday to disperse agitating students and their parents at Kiltan Island demanding immediate posting of Post Graduate Teachers in government-run schools in the island. <br/><br/>Prohibitory order has been imposed in Kiltan. Police said the situation is under control and asked for additional reinforcements as a precautionary measure. <br/><br/>The authorities have closed all the four government run schools in the island until further orders.<br/><br/>The Principal of the Kiltan Government Senior Higher Secondary School said there was no provocation on the part of the students or parents, for the police to open fire.
