Police in Malaysia have fired tear gas and water canons at thousands of protestors holding a banned rally in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Hundreds of protestors were arrested before the rally was broken up. The demonstrators had been demanding voting reforms ahead of national polls expected next year. Police has warned that anyone participating in the illegal March would be arrested to prevent chaos.
