The police custody of JNU Student Union President Kanhaiya Kumar was extended by two days. Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested previous week in connection with a case of sedition and criminal conspiracy registered over holding of an event at the varsity during which anti-India slogans were allegedly raised. His arrest has triggered widespread outrage among students and teachers and drawn severe criticism from non-BJP political parties.<br/><br/>A scuffle broke out today between JNU students and a group of men in lawyer's robes outside Patiala House court in New Delhi, hearing sedition case against Kanhaiya Kumar. The bitter scene erupted when some men, said to be lawyers, entered the court room and allegedly started pushing out students, teachers and media persons, asking them to leave the premises. Reports say some students and media persons were thrashed by the group.<br/><br/> Meanwhile, Congress has condemned the incident. Talking to media , party spokesperson P C Chacko alleged that the freedom of speech and expression is being suppressed in the country. Claiming that such an incident has never happened in the past, Mr Chacko said it was clear that intolerance in the country is on the rise.
