In Britain, an uneasy calm prevailed over cities in the country today after four days of continuous rioting and looting. Security has been beefed up and stern warnings from Prime Minister David Cameron have been issued to the rioters that law and order will be restored at any cost. Cameron has convened today a special session of parliament to discuss the worst riots in England in decades. Tensions remained high in the violence-hit areas; however no major incidents were reported. Media reports said, preliminary estimates of the extent of loss due to rioting were nearly 200 million pounds. The Police have arrested more than 1,000 people and charged nearly 300 in connection with violence in London and other parts. The Police has already been authorised to use plastic bullets for the first time against rioters.
