Pol. parties busy finalising candidates for forthcoming Assembly polls

Filing of nominations for the Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh today gathered momentum. With just three days left for filing of papers, most of the political parties have released their list of candidates. But the Congress and the NCP combine is yet to release their lists for Maharashtra assembly polls.<br/><br/>The Central Election Committee of the Congress party is now holding another session to finalise the list for the remaining seats.<br/><br/>In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena has released the list of 126 candidates and Maharashtra Nava Nirman Sena of 100. BJP has so far decided candidates for 86 candidates and the BSP for 38. The talks on sharing of seats between Congress and the NCP have almost been sealed and list of the Congress party candidate is likely to be released by this evening.<br/><br/>In Haryana, the Indian National Lok Dal has so far fielded candidates for 81 seats and BJP to 73. BSP has announced candidates for 63 seats.<br/><br/>In Arunachal Pradesh, Congress is contesting on 59, and NCP on 30, BJP 24 and Tirunamool Congress on 29 seats.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the focus is gradually shifting to campaigning with local leaders addressing corner meetings. The issues of price rise, law and order are being raised by the opposition parties while the ruling Congress party is highlighting the achievements of the UPA government with the focus on its policy of inclusive and equitable growth.
