Poacher alleged to kill tigers arrested in Haryana

A notorious poacher Bheema, who is alleged to have killed several tigers, has been arrested. In a joint operation by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) Gurgaon Police and with assistance from other agencies, Bheema was arrested on Tuesday from Ballabhgarh area in Haryana. A poaching case was registered against him and tiger bones, body parts, several traps and implements were recovered from his house in Gurgaon by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and Gurgaon Police in July, 2008. He has been absconding since then and was declared a proclaimed offender. He is also suspected to have been involved in killing of several tigers and leopards in north India and has links with middlemen and traders of illegal wildlife trade. According to officials Bheema’s arrest is expected to provide vital clues to the organized poaching and illegal trade networks in the country. <br/><br/>
