PM's Japan trip begins tomorrow; Visit to boost bilateral ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Japan tomorrow on a five day visit to take Indo- Japan ties to a new level. Modi will visit Kyoto and Tokyo and is scheduled to meet his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, Emperor Akihito, senior ministers, politicians along with business community and students.

India has termed the visit of the Prime Minister extremely substantive hoping that both the countries would be able to raise the Strategic and Global Partnership to new levels .The visit of Narendra Modi is likely to provide an opportunity for both the countries to work with each other for the cause of global peace .

This visit is also likely to create new vistas for exports of Indian goods and services to Japan . Official data revealed, India- Japan bilateral trade reached 16. 31 billion dollar during last financial year which was around 12 percent lower in comparison to the previous year due to the reduction in Japanese exports. However, exports from India went up by over 4 percent during the last fiscal.

AIR Correspondent reports that Japan is the fourth largest investor in with around 15 .5 billion dollars between 2000 and 2013. India is planning to set an ambitious target of bi-lateral trade during Prime Minister’s visit. It may be recalled that a business delegation will also visit Japan separately to boost trade and economic cooperation.
