PM’s China visit: Border Defence Cooperation Agreement, bilateral matters high on agenda

On the second leg of his two nation tour of Russia and China, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived in Beijing this evening. Enhancing trade, economic cooperation and finalisation of border defence agreement are high on the agenda of talks between Dr. Singh and the Chinese leadership.

The two countries are expected to sign several agreements after Prime Minister's talks with Chinese leaders. Dr. Manmohan Singh will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang tomorrow on a host of bilateral, regional and global issues.

He will also meet Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National People's Congress, the Chinese Parliament. Before his departure on Thursday, Dr. Singh will address future leaders at the central school of the Communist Party of China, and also meet former Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

Along with Chinese Premier Li, Dr. Singh will address business leaders attending the second India-China CEOs Forum being held on the sidelines of his visit.
