PMO seeks Visva Bharati Univ report on harsh punishment to girl student

The Prime Minister's Office has sought a report from Visva-Bharati University on a fifth class girl student being allegedly given harsh punishment for bed-wetting in Santinikean. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is the chancellor of the University.
Meanwhile, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also issued a notice to West Bengal Government and asked it to investigate the incident in next 10 days and submit a report to it. Our Kolkata correspondent reports that the hostel warden in Vishwa Bharati University who reportedly forced the young girl student to drink her own urine as a punishment, has been arrested and suspended. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged with the Police by the girl's father.
